Join SBWA for a unique community event at the Red Mill in Clinton on June 14, 2008 from 10:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The event celebrates the Treasures of the South Branch of the Raritan River and highlights the many positive attributes of the beautiful river that we all enjoy. The “treasures” theme is based on a quote from Hermia Lechner, founder of SBWA in 1959 – “A river is a treasure, never to be taken for granted”.
Activities will focus on environment, recreation, and history – all an integral part of what the South Branch of the Raritan River has to offer. Among the activities will be an in-stream opportunity to collect “river critters” and experience the Waterways Stewardship Program that SBWA offers in local schools, a Reptile Show called Rulers of the River , a preview of the South Branch Water Trail, canoe clinics, flyfishing demonstrations, “Go Green” home and garden exhibits, guided tours of the Red Mill Museum, and other environmental exhibits and vendors. There will be “river friendly” games for all ages, entertainment by the Long Hill String Band, and lots of good food. The event is free to the public.
We are still seeking exhibitors and sponsors for this event. For more information, contact Lynn Becker at (908) 782-0422, ext. 13 or lynnbecker@sbwa.org, and check our web site at www.sbwa.org.
