Califon Book Shop

Charming bookstore filled with new books in most categories, including a large selection of children’s books. Greeting cards, wooden puzzles, calendars, journals and bookmarks are also available. We welcome special orders and do out-of-print book searches.

We also have frequent visits from local authors and illustrators, so be sure to check our event listings.

Next Book Signing: The Califon Book Shop will be hosting two book signings on Sunday, April 27, from 2 - 4 pm.

Christine Reilly Carter will be signing copies of her children's book, The Collie of Castle Hill.  Ms. Carter both wrote and illustrated this story about a boy, his collie and their adventures together.   She has published stories and illustrations in Cricket Magazine, and is primarily known for her abstract paintings and captured-digigraph collages.

Julie Maloney will be doing readings and signing copies of her poetry book, Private Landscape. This slim book, written without censoring, unveils the many layers of a woman. Divided into two sections, the first section titled “Home,” takes the reader through cancer. Observations rally around the intimate. In the second section, Maloney continues to weave a human mosaic, never hesitating to take us deeper.

The two book signings are being held in conjunction with "Hearts of Hope," an annual arts festival sponsored by the Califon United Methodist Church.  This year the festival is being held in support of the Hunterdon Learning Center.    Activities will be held at the church and throughout downtown Califon, beginning at 1 pm.
